Skunk cannabis seeds

Skunk is the family from which virtually all modern cannabis strains descend. The original Skunk #1, a cross of Mexican and Colombian sativas with an Afghan indica, was stabilised in California in the seventies and came to the Netherlands in the early eighties. There it became the building block of the Dutch seed industry: stable, fast-flowering for a sativa-dominant plant, and with the sharp, musky smell that gave it its name. Which Skunk strains do we have?

• Original Skunk #1 as a regular 5-pack from our own line, and Sensi Skunk from Sensi Seeds as feminised, regular and autoflower.
• Early Skunk: a Skunk crossed with an early outdoor strain, the most reliable choice for a northern European garden, also as autoflower and regular.
• Super Skunk: Skunk #1 backcrossed with Afghan genetics for more yield and a heavier effect.

Why do growers choose Skunk?

Skunk strains are predictable. They germinate easily, grow sturdily, branch well and flower in 8 to 9 weeks, short for a plant with this much sativa in its genes. The yield is high and the buds set quickly. That is why Skunk has been the first choice for beginners and for growers wanting a reliable base for their own crosses for forty years. The THC content is usually between 15 and 20 percent: solid, but easy to dose.

Indoors or outdoors?

Indoors a Skunk stays well under control with topping or scrog and gives a high yield per square metre. Outdoors Early Skunk is the safest choice: it finishes in late September, before the wet autumn. Other Skunks are harvested in October. Keep the smell in mind: the name was not chosen for nothing, and indoors a carbon filter is needed.

Feminised, regular or autoflower?

Feminised Skunk gives only female plants and is the standard choice. Regular Skunk also gives males and is meant for anyone who wants to breed; Skunk #1 is the classic base for that. Autoflower Skunks flower by themselves and are ready 9 to 10 weeks after germination, ideal for a short summer or a first grow.

Is Skunk suitable for beginners?

Yes. Skunk strains tolerate feeding mistakes, temperature swings and a forgotten watering better than most other families. It is the strain most Dutch growers started with.

How strongly does Skunk smell during the grow?

Strongly. The musky smell is clearly present from the third week of flowering. Indoors that means a carbon filter; outdoors you pick a spot that is not right next to the neighbours.
