Blueberry is the indica that won the High Times Cannabis Cup in 2000 and has been the benchmark for fruity cannabis ever since. The strain was developed in the seventies by American breeder DJ Short from Thai, Afghan and Mexican landraces, and got its name from the unmistakable taste of fresh blueberries. The plants often turn blue to purple in bloom. This category holds every Blueberry strain in our range.

How do you grow Blueberry?

Blueberry is an indica-dominant plant that stays compact, usually 60 to 100 cm indoors, and flowers in 8 to 9 weeks. It branches moderately and puts its weight into dense, resinous buds. The plant likes a stable environment: it tolerates big temperature swings and overfeeding less well than a Skunk. The blue and purple colour comes out most strongly with cool nights in the final weeks of bloom. Outdoors in northern Europe Blueberry finishes in early October in a sunny spot; the autoflowers are ready in September and are therefore the safer outdoor choice.

Effect and taste

Sweet and fruity, with the smell and taste of blueberries that gave the strain its name. The effect is relaxing and physical, with a cheerful, light edge at the start. THC levels are around 16 to 20 percent, which makes Blueberry easy to dose for less experienced users too.

Does Blueberry always turn blue or purple?

Usually yes in the final weeks of flowering, and most strongly with cool nights. In a warm grow room the colour sometimes stays limited to the leaves; the taste does not change because of it.

Is Blueberry suitable for beginners?

Yes, with a stable environment and moderate feeding. The autoflower version is the simplest: small, fast and forgiving.
